Breakfast at Solvang

Picture
A full gourmet breakfast is included with each stay.  At a candle lit breakfast table with fine china and silver, we serve mill ground coffee, freshly baked biscuits and breads using the family's own stone ground flour, seasonal fresh fruits, and elegant breakfast entrees made with local cage-free eggs.  Breakfast is served at the time you request and dietary requests are always considered.  Visit our reviews page, to see what past guests have said about breakfast at Solvang.

Lunch and Dinner Recommendations

We recommend some of our local area restaurants for lunch and dinner. Here are some of our favorites.

Three Twelve Kitchen & Cocktails is a great option for dinner, they have both a casual dining room and a finer dining room.  The atmosphere is relaxed, yet intimate, and the option for casual and finer dining allows our guests to enjoy everything from burgers and wings to finer entrees at one location.  I highly recommend calling for a reservation if you plan to dine on a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday.

Kelly's Korner has been a local landmark for more than 75 years! This restaurant has a wide variety of food options.  Their fresh salad bar, wings, and club sandwich are our favorites.  Their full menu can be viewed one their website and they even do online ordering.  Takeout is convenient at Kelly's and the waitstaff is always friendly.  www.kellyskornerpa.com

Boxer's Cafe is a local favorite.  They are well known for their vegetarian options, fresh baked pies (if they have the strawberry rhubarb or the peach mango pie...GET SOME and bring me a piece too lol), homemade soups, fresh-squeezed lemonade, and large selection of imported beers. They are open for lunch and dinner, but the dining area is small, so be prepared to wait if you want a table on the weekends. Boxers is also closed on Sundays.

Memories Sports Bar and Grill  is a great casual option for dinner and is open 7 days a week.  It has a fun, hometown bar, sports bar atmosphere and is a great place to catch the big game. They often have theme nights, Wednesdays are Karaoke Night and Thursdays are Trivia Night. Portions are large here and the desserts are yummy, so plan to bring home a doggie bag!

Standing Stone Coffee Company is a popular coffeehouse option for lunch or casual dinner.  They roast their beans on site, and the wonderful aroma hits you before you even walk through their doors. They know most of their bean farmers personally, and every cup of coffee you have from them is so fresh, that the bean was green within 2 weeks of the time it is brewed.
The Montana Mountain Climber and the Dark Chocolate Frozen Mocha are my favorite menu items, but they do it ALL well. This family owned business is close to Juniata College and  has quite a following of patrons. Their great products and their community outreach have made them a local favorite.

If you are in the mood for pizza, for Huntingdon locals, Original Italian Pizza (OIP) is the only choice.  The general manager, Joe, from Sicily has been operating this pizza shop for 20 years.  I love the salads, subs, cheesesteaks, and strombolis (actually I love all their food!). Link to a sample menu page 1, sample menu page 2
OIP is open every day and there are 2 locations in Huntingdon.

Want to see the works of local artists and grab a bite to eat at the same time? Try Stone Town Gallery and Cafe. They frequently showcase live music and have a spacious outdoor patio area.  Their specialty menu includes soups, crepes, and homemade scones.

Their hours vary, so check their website for seasonal hours.

Hoss's Steak and Sea House is a great choice if you are craving a big, juicy steak.  This local chain family restaurant is well known for its huge salad and soup bar offerings, but the food is all homemade (the homemade soups and breads are delicious). I highly recommend Hoss's for families, because the price is very reasonable to feed even the hungriest teen! Hoss's is open 7 days a week.

Want to pick up some barbecue and picnic at the lake? Like slow cooked brisket? Try Woody's Bar-B-Q Restaurant for a bite, a brew or a sky-high piece of pie.

Our choice for a vintage diner experience is Diner 22.  Their interesting history and railroad car origins give this spot extra character.  They have a huge menu, but everything we've tried is yummy! They also have some regional dishes like chipped beef, "the mess", and liver & onions on the menu in case you wanted to try a taste of local home cooking. The old seamlessly blends with new here, as they have online ordering available through their website.

The Village Tavern or as locals call it, "the VT" has the look inside of a beautiful mountain lodge with woodwork and a large stone fireplace for ambiance.  The feel, however, is more hometown bar and relaxed atmosphere. They have a wing flavor that is seasoned with Hartley's (a local potato chip company) BBQ in case you wanted to try another "only in this area" offering.   9459 Main St. Huntingdon, PA 16652     814-506-8037

Vegan, healthy, gluten-free, and vegetarian choices abound at Wildflower Cafe. Even myself, a avid meat-eater, have never had a lunch or brunch here that wasn't excellent!  They incorporate locally grown sprouts and fresh from the farm veggies.  You can also be bad here, because their baked goods, especially their scones, are to die for and many are gluten-free. They have a colorful hippie-vibe patio too. Stop by for a meal or just to grab coffee, a scone, and shop their local gift wares in their shop section in the front of the store.  They close at 3pm each day and they do alter their hours seasonally, so call to confirm before stopping by.

Ferguson's is for you if you like to find the hole-in-the-wall places with no pretense.  Fun wait staff and an involved owner keep people returning to this spot. Their "Meatie Cheesies", think OPPOSITE of vegan are the perfect game-day munchie with a beer.  Craving a big, juicy burger?  Go here, but not if you're on a diet :)
Open 7 days a week.
